Flash report on the pre session of cui to present the alternative report to the acerwc held in addis ababa on 19 November 2018


Summary  of the CUI pre-session to present the Alternative report on ACRWC.  The Coalition Umwana ku Isonga  has presented the report to the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child  during the 32th Session  of the ACRWC held on 12-20 November 2018 at Radisson Blue Hotel in Addis Ababa -Ethiopia.   The delegation of the Coalition was composed by 9 persons including  3persons from the Coalition (Chair, Vice Chair and the Coalition ) 3 persons from CLADHO including (The ES of CLADHO, Program officer and 1children), 3 persons from CVT among them 2 children.  The Coalition delegation  was representive in gender by 3women 6men.

The report presentation  

The report in summary was given by Mr. Maximilien Ruzigana Coordinator of the Coalition Umwana ku Isonga in 10 minutes and instructions and followed by 2 series of questions asked by the all committee members. The responses of the questions was much related to the report submitted by the Coalition but also to the report the committee has received from the Government.  The exchanges and interaction with the committee of experts on the children’s rights was interesting to us panel   but also the members of the delegation. At the end they asked to one of the Child to say something to them. The child also said  that he was  happy to see how they high level persons at the African Union  are interested to the issues relating to the life of Children.


In conclusion the Chairperson  of the ACERWC affirmed that herself and all the Committee members  were very happy for the delegation of Rwanda child rights Coalition for the report submitted, the time that we gave them to explain the report as well as all the  information they received from the Rwandan CSOs delegation. 

Madam chair of the Committee of experts wanted to know if the Coalition delegation  want to task the priorities issues related to the recommendations proposed the “Chair of the Coalition   said that all are in priority, but the issues related of teacher training (sign language) and school materials for children with disability and availability  of sufficient social workers at sector level in charge of children issues should be in priority”.
